HISTORY AND DEVELOPMENT OF HARD DISK DRIVE (HDD)

YEAR 1981: SONY OA-D3OV

Sony introduced the first floppy drive with a size of 3.5-inch disk drive is the first 3.5-inch disk drives with OA-D3OV code with 0.4375 MB capacity comprising only a single 3.5-inch disk.

1983: Rodime RO352

Rodime introduced the first disk drive with a capacity of 10mb. disk drives are made with RO352 code consisting of two discs with each disc measuring 3.5 inches.


1983: Maxtor XT-1140

Maxtor introduced the XT-1140, is the first disk drive using eight fruit dish in control by intermediaries motor with the size of each dish $ 5.25 inches with a capacity up to 126 MB.


1986: Conner CP340

Conner Peripherals released hard-coded CP340, this 3.5-inch hard drive and a capacity of 40 MB by using two discs in it.

1989: Western Digital Standard IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics)

In 1989, Western Digital makes a standard IDE (Integrated Drive Electronics) hard drive for all sizes.
